Weddings

Getting married in the Church of Scotland celebrates that we do not live our lives and our relationships in isolation, but with God.  The Bible tells us that "a chord of three strands is not quickly broken" [Ecclesiastes 4:12] so, as you and your partner are married, we believe that God is that third strand, binding and blessing your relationship.  While Ness Bank is a beautiful location for your marriage, we trust that the greater significance would be knowing the blessing of God's presence with you as you begin your married life together.

Can we get married in Ness Bank Church?

You do not need to be a member of the church to get married at Ness Bank. To discuss holding your marriage ceremony at Ness Bank; please contact Mary Thomson, Church Administrator, at nessbankchurch@gmail.com or telephone 01463 221812. If you are a member of another church, it is a courtesy to ask your Minister before getting married elsewhere.

Will someone help us with the planning for the service?

Yes. The Minister will arrange to meet you on two or three occasions to guide and assist you as you plan for your day. The Organist will help you choose your music and/or hymns.

How much does it cost?

The cost of a marriage service at Ness Bank is £350 which is payable in full one month prior to your wedding date (during the months of October to April a further £60 is payable in respect of heating costs). There is no charge for the services of the Minister. The cost for the Organist is £60 plus a further £60 if the service is recorded.

Can we book the Church and use our own Minister?

Please contact the Church Office to discuss this and please note that the cost remains the same as above.

Can we arrange for our child to be baptised during our marriage ceremony?

This would not be possible as Baptism/Blessing takes place during a Sunday morning service when the congregation is present.

Do we have to get married on a Saturday?

No. You can arrange for your wedding to take place on any day of the week.

We would like to renew our marriage vows. Is this possible?

Yes. The Minister would be pleased to meet you and discuss this.
