Clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene are basic human rights. They should be a normal part of daily life for everyone, everywhere - but they aren't.

We're working with our partners in some of the toughest places in the world. Together, we've already reached millions of people with clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene, enabling entire communities to unlock their potential, break free from poverty and change their lives for good.

And while installing taps and toilets is essential to our work, we do so much more.

We convince governments to change laws, link policy makers with people on the ground, pool knowledge and resources and rally support from people and organisations around the world, making lasting change happen on a massive scale.

In the last year alone, you helped us reach:

1,357,000 people with clean water

2,086,000 people with good hygiene

In Ness Bank we support WaterAid by donating our annual Lent Appeal for the ongoing work to ensure that more and more people overseas have clean water, decent toilets and basic hygiene.

A decent toilet means the chance for children like Henitsoa in Madagascar to stay in school, taking them closer to reaching their dreams.

How do you make the benefits of clean water and decent toilets last for generations? The key is good hygiene, as Anil has been discovering in Pakistan.

For Fatima, Lourdes and Amelia in Timor-Leste, that means being able to drink from the tap without worrying about deadly diseases
